I wondered,

what if the current world collapsed because of greed, AI, or climate change? Or all at once?

This is how the After Climate Disruption world emerged in my head. I developed the rise of energy within us, and then the science that discovered how to mimic it in artificially grown Crystals. (And yes, I’m obsessed with drawing Crystals, as you can see in the art gallery.)
